Here Is Where We Live.

You might agree, or perhaps you've noticed it yourself, but property seems to have become something of a national talking point in recent years.

Not just house prices and mortgages, but how we live, how we work, and how we make the most of the homes we have.

Hello, I'm James, founder of Mallet & Plane.

I've always been fascinated by homes and the way we live in them.

Having lived in London for many years, I've moved home several times and each move has left me thinking about the same questions. Why do some spaces seem to work effortlessly while others never quite feel right? Why can one room feel calm and organised while another feels permanently cluttered? And how can relatively small changes make such a difference to the way we experience a home?

It seems our homes are being asked to do more than ever before. Spare bedrooms become offices. Living rooms become places to work, relax and entertain. New types of spaces appear, while familiar rooms continue to evolve.

At the same time, many of us are spending longer in the homes we already have, making it increasingly important to get the most from the space available.

That's one of the reasons we created our Space Reports.

They explore real homes, unusual layouts and the everyday challenges that come with modern living. From compact city apartments and Winter Gardens to hallways, home offices and awkward corners, each report begins with a simple question:

How can this space work better?

That same thinking sits at the heart of Mallet & Plane.

We choose furniture for modern homes. Pieces that provide useful storage, make sensible use of space and help create a calmer, more organised environment.

Not because homes need more furniture.

But because the right furniture can help us get more from the homes we already love.

Modern Homes. Thoughtful Living.

Good furniture. Less clutter.

Not because homes need more furniture.

But because the right furniture can help us get more

from the homes we already love.
